Office Supply Shelving
Office Supply Shelving A Review
|
Kevin was just promoted to the logistical department of the company. Whenever something needed to be replenished upstairs, someone will call the office and a runner will be sent up to deliver it. The logistical department was in the basement of the building. The office where Kevin worked had a table, a computer to monitor everything and a telephone to receive orders. The supply room was like a vault. It was locked most of the time and the place was like a maze just to get a certain item and bring it out to whoever needs it. Being the head of the department, Kevin felt that some changes need to be made. Since the shelves in the supply room were more than 15 years old, this has to be improved on making it easy to get the materials needed for the people upstairs. Since writing a letter won't get the proposal approved, this person decided to canvass around for the right office supply shelvings. Kevin first started calling some numbers in the phone directory then visited the offices. In order to get more proposals, this individual also checked out some websites who had offices in town with others a few miles away. Since most of the supplies were reams of paper, folders and ink for the printers, it was best to get the kind made of chrome steel that was rust proof and more stable than the kind made of wood. After some time, the list was narrowed down to three suppliers. The budget and the report were made so that the boss has options to look at which will really help in getting the proposal approved. A few days later, the meeting happened and it was approved. The model chosen by the boss was the office supply aisle system. This is a series of metal shelvings that could be moved by pushing the others to the left or right so someone can go in and get the item. The only thing Kevin had to do now was call on the supplier to get the measurements so that this can be made according to the specifications of the supply room. Traditionally, things like these are just ordered then delivered to the client. This is because it comes in various sizes already then assembled on site. Since the distance between the ceiling and the floor was too low, the only way was to make a customized version. The entire system was finished in less than a week. This was tested by the Kevin and the others in the department before the supplies were loaded onto the shelves. With this thing now in place, those in the logistical group won't have a hard time getting the items in the request form prepared and brought upstairs. The office supply shelving purchased by Kevin for the company is just one of three models that is ideal for commercial use. The other two models can either be screwed into the wall or lined up against the wall or in the center just like the old system used in the office. Most offices do not give that much priority in expanding the supply room since there are other departments who have better use for the additional space. Should this happen, the employee can try to get the aisle track system version which is more cost efficient in the long term.
